Romans 8:38-39   New Living Translation (NLT)

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,  neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Many people may encounter God at some point of their lives and then at another point, they may negate the ‘Godness’ of God or even the existence of God, because they have been disappointed or even appalled by the way Christians behave and live their lives.

But how can man diminish the ‘Godness’ of God through his or her behavior here on earth?

God sits on His throne in heaven – no-one can knock him off.

God also cannot take the fall for the choices that man makes.

God is God.  He is perfection.  He is love.  He is forgiveness.

He is always ready to forgive, no matter what the severity of the offence or crime.

 

God is God, no matter what man chooses to believe.

God is God, no matter how man chooses to behave.

God is God in the lives of those who choose to know him.  And yes, even those people mess up and make detrimental choices for their own lives and for the reputation of God.

But God is still God and nothing that we do can to change that or diminish that.

People, born sinners, unfortunately succumb to the temptation of;

Lies

Betrayals

Selfishness

Cruelty

Manipulation

Greed

and Lust

These are temptations that everyone is bombarded with each and every day.  And even the most faithful believers will make the wrong choices at some point.  Because they are human and they will slip up.

But the choices that they make do not make God any less ‘God’.

He is our creator.

He sits on the throne.

He calls us into relationship with him.

He calls us to live a life of righteousness.

And he keeps loving us and forgiving us no matter what we do and no matter what choices make – as long as we choose to turn back to him, seek his face and ask for his forgiveness.

No sin (or wrong choice) is worse than any other.

Each one is equally forgiven and equally forgotten.

We can get a clean slate a million times over because God is God.  His character is Love.  His character is Forgiveness.  His true desire is to be in a real relationship with us.

We cant look at man to see God.  We have to look at God to see God.

And when a man has truly met God, had a personal God encounter, there is nothing that anyone can say or do to undo it.

Their life is changed forever.

Their sense of knowing and believing bursts forth in a rainbow of colour.  Hope and Love and Light and Joy flood their lives and they can now see the Greatness of God and the smallness of man.

Doubt and disbelief are shattered and they begin to comprehend the intensity of Gods love towards them.

Here is a powerful testimony from ‘Jon Micah Sumrall‘ the lead singer of Kutless. It is a simple message that he shared at a Kutless concert in Portland.   Simple, but profound in truth in love.

“There is one reason that we are here tonight. Because at some point in our lives, God has changed our lives in an amazing and powerful way. Tonight we are simply here to share some of the truth and love that we have found in our own hearts and our own lives.

You see, God is real in my life.

And we can argue about politics all day and we can argue about different beliefs but the truth is that God changed my life and there is no argument that you can ever say to change my mind about that.

And so tonight we are simply here with you to share some of the love that God has shown us.

You see, God has shown us so much grace and so much love and its unfortunate that people go through their entire lives and never realize that there is a God who cares for them in a very individual and very personal way.

Too many people believe that God is a distant being that is completely intangible and doesn’t really notice the things that you do and who you really are and the things that you are dealing with. But the truth is that God knows everything about you and he loves you right where you are at.

I am so thankful that God doesn’t say ‘You need to change the way you dress or get a haircut and I’ll start loving you. He says ‘I love you just where you are at and just the way you are’

The bible says that while we were still sinners ‘Christ died for us’

And it’s that truth that I hold on to and that I share with you tonight. That God loves you for who you are and who you can become.’

Your personal response towards God is not a purely head thing – it’s also a heart thing.

An emotional response to believe that God is the creator of all things and the lover of your soul.

It is in that decision that your soul truly finds it’s home.

God continues to pursue us with his love. He created us to know us. To do anything other than this would go against the very character of God.

And Gods character is the one thing that is absolute. It is consistant and safe and completely trustworthy. God is love.

It is better to Believe and be loved, than not to have believed at all.
