God doesn’t need us but he certainly does use us, to do His good works on the earth.

And it doesn’t matter who you are or where you are from.

‘It’s not about being able, it’s about being available’

I heard that from one of the painters that we had in our home recently.  He was also a muso and we talked a lot about worship and purpose and he reminded me of this fundamental truth.  ‘God will always use a willing heart.” And the wonderful, unexpected reward is that we get to live a ‘life fulfilled and full of purpose.’

Isn’t that what everyone is after?

In this world, in spite of all the ‘stuff’ and all the entertainment, there is still so much emptiness and loneliness.

So how can we really make a difference?

The other day, while I was out running through the greenbelt, I passed a young couple who were sitting alongside the river.  It was so beautiful to see.  Young people, enjoying the peace that is found in nature – not something that we see very often.

And then I found myself praying for them.  That the Lord would protect them – that they would not be robbed of enjoying these simple joys in life.  That is when it occurred to me how we can make a big difference through such a small act.

The act of prayer.

By praying for people, those we know and even those we don’t, we are calling down God’s presence and protection and in effect, claiming territory for the Kingdom.

Prayer calls down God’s domain.

It’s like releasing ‘bubbles’ of light and hope into this dark world.

The people who we are praying for, don’t even need to be aware of the prayer.  But we can trust that their lives will be impacted and even changed as a result of it.

Let join together in praying for God’s kingdom to come here on earth.

Let’s pray the world into being a better place.

Let’s pray that God’s hand reaches every corner of it.
