I don’t think that there is a single person on this earth that is exempt from worry. It is the way of human nature. It may even be considered our defence mechanism. When we feel out of control of a situation, our response it to worry.
The best way to combat worry is to ‘get it out.’
Bring ‘that thing that is worrying you’ into the light.
Worry feeds on the darkness and doubts in our minds.
Worry, tantalises us to entertain obscurities and lies. And we fall for it. We begin to dance with the lies. We go around and around and examine them from every possible angle.
And we eventually allow our anguish to consume us.
Worry has been defined as “a small trickle of fear that meanders through the mind until it cuts a channel into which all other thoughts are drained.”
Fear and worry fester in the darkness but even the tiniest light will impact that darkness.
In order to overcome our fears that lead to worry, we need to bring them out into the light.
What at is the greatest source of light?
“God is light and in Him is no darkness at all” 1 John 1:5
God is the very creator of light.
Creation began when God’s presence intruded the darkness: “The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day. Genesis 1:2-5
Worry robs us of our peace and unravels our trust in the promises of God.
God’s promises are good and His words are true.
He is for us and not against us.
And because you belong to Christ Jesus, God’s peace will stand guard over all your thoughts and feelings. His peace can do this far better than our human minds. Philippians 4:7
Even in the midst of a chaos, if we trust in God, we can still find peace.
The kind of peace that lives in our hearts and guards our thoughts and feelings.
We need to bring our worries into the light. We need to speak them out to God.
We need to ask God to help us to see things from His perspective.
God does not wish for us to spend our days worrying. Not about the future, not about money or need.
The same God who created life, and who created you, can be trusted with ALL the details of your life.
We don’t have to be worry because in Christ we are overcomers.
In Christ all things are possible.
Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers. Phillippians 4:7
