Happy New Year to all you beautiful people! I hope that you are feeling well rested  after your break – even if it was not as long as you would have liked.

My hope and prayer for you is that you are inspired to look at the year ahead with great anticipation and faith, as you look to God to lead you into the future that He has purposed for you.

I have just read a statement that is possible one of the most profound that I have ever read about life and it’s brevity. ” … only God gets to decide when our “book” will end. I’m not sure how long your book is, but I encourage you to make it a good one. Remember each day, that the next is not promised … it’s a gift!”

Just before New Year, I wrote a post where I stated that each year, I ask the Lord to give me a ‘word’ that I can hold onto for the year ahead.  A word for those times when happiness or hardship and hurts come our way.

This year, my word was ‘Light’.

God has called us to be the Light in this world.  He also wants to be the Light of our Lives.

He wants our Love

He wants our Affection

He wants our Heart

Just as He has given His to us.

We are the apple of His eye.  When we take hold of that truth.  When we take it and accept it in it’s entirety we will be filled up to overflowing with His light and His love and we will shine for all the world to see.

Matthew 5:14

“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden

I was asked recently by an Afrikaans woman, ‘Isn’t it hard to be an English speaking Christian?’  There is just so little faith and belief left in the Western Culture.

It seems that the world wants to take Christ out of everything – even Christmas.  A friend went to a Christmas Concert at a large local church and was astounded to find that the ‘Christmas story did not even include Christ’?

We really need to make it our purpose to be the light, Gods light, in this world.  In our family.  In the lives of the people that we interact with.

Because YOU may be the only way that they see His light.

John 1:5 New International Version (NIV)

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
