Sometimes, when I read something or hear something, it does something in my heart. It stirs up a passion in me that cannot be suppressed. A passion that drives me to action. This is when I know it’s God inspired – it’s God at work in me.
I felt this stirring when my mom told me about the Angus Buchan ‘Sacred Assembly’ that is taking place in JHB later this month. Angus Buchan is a man after Gods own heart and he believes God has told him to gather the people of this country together in prayer.
This is his announcement;
We believe God has given to the Believers in South Africa a commandment and a mandate to gather together in one place, at one time and to repent (say sorry), so that Jesus can heal this land.
People from every walk of life are called; men, women, boys, girls, black, white, Indian, coloured, old and young.
From every station in life; ministers, farmers, sportsmen, housewives, old age pensioners, school teachers, shop keepers, students, businessmen, politicians, the widow and the orphan, the unemployed , miners, fishermen… yes indeed, the whosoever.
We are as a nation going to petition Almighty God to intervene on behalf of His people who are in a desperate situation, fast becoming the laughing stock of the world!
Why should the nations say among themselves, ” Where is their God?” – Joel 2:17.
From the extreme north of our beloved SA , down to the Karoo, folk are asking us to pray for rain. Join us, come together at the FNB Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg on November 19th 2016. Let us repent before a Holy God and ask Him to forgive us, to heal our nation and to deliver us from a self-destructive spirit of violence, corruption, hatred, unforgiveness, anger and negativity.
We are all privileged to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, with a most warm and loving people. The forces of darkness however are fast decimating and we have got to draw a line in the sand – “This far devil… and no further”.
We need to put Jesus first again. We need to repent for allowing this nation to slip backwards and for compromising our Godly standards. We need to ask our loving God to visit us once more!
When we do this as a people on that Saturday afternoon in November, at the FNB Stadium, God says very clearly that the following will take place:
The Lord will be zealous for His Land. He will pity His People. He will send us food. We shall be content. We will no longer be a reproach among the nations.
– Joel 2:18-19
What an inspiring announcement.
There is no doubt that God will be in that place. That He will hear the prayers of the people. That He will take pity. That He will make a way where there seems to be no way.
We all want to see change. But we may not all be able to get the stadium on that day.
That doesn’t matter.
God will hear us pray wherever we are that day (and every other day)!
If we want to see change, we have to do something different and something definite!
We need to pray for God to intervene. For God to make a God kind a change.
A fair and loving change.
A true and just change.
I would like to encourage you to encourage others to do something or our country on that day. Fast and pray.
Encourage your church to join you. Encourage your home group or prayer group or worship group or sports group to pray.
Put out the word.
Let us make a massive appeal and then trust God to move and heal.
God loves a heart a faith. If we believe, we will receive.
We need to pray with a Godly hunger. With an attitude that says “I will pray and pray until I see something happen.”
If we want to get real-life results from our prayer, we need to seek God with an attitude that says’ “No matter how long it takes, or whatever I have to do, I will trust that God will hear and that God will act.” This is not arrogance. This is Godly hunger. It is not pushing God to take action but rather pushing yourself into God. This is praying and trusting that you will see God’s hand move. This is desperate, hungry praying. This is the type of prayer that gets answers. Rex Rouis
Anybody with enough hunger can make something happen.
I am reminded of the Revival that took place in the Hebrides in 1949.
It all began with two faithful old woman who were grieved by the Godless state of their own parish. They were 82 and 84 years old, one of them stone blind, and they had a hunger to see God present in the lives of the people of the little island of Lewis. At that stage there were absolutely no young people attending the church or worship services. The youngsters spent their time getting on with their own lives, without even a thought of God. He was completely left out of their lives! This was a great concern for these two old ladies and one that they chose to seriously pray about.
A particular verse gripped them;
“For I will pour out water on him who is thirsty,
And streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring
And My blessing on your descendants.” Isaiah 44:3-5
They were so overwhelmed by this lack of Godliness, that they decided to pray about it twice a week. On the first Tuesday evening, they got on their knees around 10pm and only finished praying at 3 or 4am in the morning. Those two old woman became lost in prayer in their humble little cottage.
Then one night, one of the ladies had a vision. God gave her a clear picture of their church brimming with young people. The church was crowded, right up to the doors and there was an unknown minister standing at the pulpit.
She was so impacted by this vision that she asked the church minister to come and see them. Knowing that these two women knew God in an intimate and wonderful way, he responded immediately.
That morning, one of the women said to the pastor’ “You must do something about this vision. You must call the church leadership together and spend at least two nights a week in prayer. Tuesday and Friday evenings, you must gather the elders together. You can meet in a barn, because we are a farming community. You can pray there. And we will pray here.
And that is exactly what happened. The minister called his elders together and seven of them met in a barn on Tuesday and Friday evenings. And the two old woman got on their knees in their cottage and prayed with them.
And the most wonderful revival come to that little Island. You can read all about it in an article by ‘Duncan Campbell, the unknown pastor who visited their church.”

God showed up in the most radical way. It began with a gracious awareness of God that swept through the church. It was not the result of a powerful message from the pulpit. It was a result of the genuinely devoted prayers of a group of believers that prompted Gods hand to move!
Revival is a moving of God in a community, where suddenly that community becomes God conscious before even a word is preached.
Revival is a God intervention.
Let us join together and trust and pray for that in our land too.
Let us all fast and pray on the 19th of November. On that afternoon, let us pray either alone or in small gathered groups or at the FNB Stadium in Soweto with Angus Buchan, and let us all believe together that we will see Gods hand move.
That we will see change in the hearts of man.
That we will see change in our land.
