LET GOD PLAN YOUR LIFE
Some of you say,
“Today or tomorrow we will go to some city.
We will stay there a year, do business, and make money.”
Listen, think about this:
You don’t know what will happen tomorrow.
Your life is like a fog.
You can see it for a short time, but then it goes away.
So you should say,
“If the Lord wants, we will live and do this or that.”
But now you are proud and boast about yourself.
All such boasting is wrong.
James 4: 13-16 Easy-to-read Version (ERV)
It feels like a distant memory – the times when we used to start a New Year with renewed Hope and Energy and Enthusiasm. Don’t get me wrong. I love my life. I am still filled with joy! But there is just so much uncertainty.
Especially when the Rand Dollar exchange is so completely volatile. Our whole business relies on the import of a wide range of products, so this makes our future look rather foggy.
It also means that thinking out the box is imperative. And prayer, an absolute essential. Because after all, only God knows what lies in the future.
Things in this world might get crazy but God is the constant. God is the one that never changes. He never gets frantic. He never panics.
He always listens and he always leads.
We need to learn to trust and rest and then go with the flow.
Each new year, I ask the Lord to give me a word that will carry me through whatever lies ahead. This year, the word I got was ‘FLOW‘. Last year, I got Justice and Mercy which are really powerful words so flow seemed a bit arbitrary . But the explanation of the word was quite simply beautiful.
“See and taste all the dimensions in which my love will flow. I love you in the chaos and the madness. I am with you in the chaos and the madness. Rest in me. Flow in me. My peace is all around you. Joy and peace will be your cloak. Your testimony. Your boast (or report)”
Last year, I spent quite a bit of time writing about my ‘studies’ on my two words. The thing is, that we can study all we like, but it is the lessons in life that really get to us …. that really change our lives.
My final lesson on Justice and Mercy came right at the end of the year and was more of a practical instance than I would ever have wanted to experience. BUT it was a perfect portrayal of Gods justice and mercy. Thinking back on it now … seeing it from the other side … I can only shake at my head at the wondrous foresight and preparation of our God. You will hear more about that later ….
But for now … I am just going with the flow ….
