We form an opinion about God and his character without really getting to know him.
And we only get to know God when we spend time with Him.
Through time, we will come to know His character. His love. That His character is love. They cannot be separated, God and love, because God is love. The very essence of his Character is LOVE.
How we live our lives, how we interact with others and how we show Gods love to our circle of influence, is all part of the legacy that we leave behind when we leave this life.
A legacy is something that remains after we leave this world – something that speaks of our lives.
Let us make sharing Gods love a natural extension of how we live our lives.
God is the creator of the whole universe – everything in it – and the creator of you and me.
He has a plan for you and me. He created us so that he could live this life with us. We don’t need to battle through it alone. We don’t need to be anxious – desperately trying to figure things out on our own. God is God. The author and finisher of our faith.
My relationship with God has been one of nearness and distance, of obedience and rebellion but during this journey, I have had more than a handful of life-changing moments. Moments that have left me without a shadow of a doubt, that there is a God who intimately loves us and ultimately want us to know him and love him and to be in a daily living, walking, talking relationship with him.
I am sure that each one of you can say that 2016 was a year filled with unexpected blessings coupled with untold sorrows. But isn’t that what life on this earth is all about. Beautiful sweetness mingled with grief-stricken bitterness.
But even so, there is always hope and there is always joy when our confidence is in the Lord.
The enemy knows our brokenness. He understands our areas of great weakness and when given half the chance, he overwhelmes us with thoughts of inadequacy and great neediness. And these triggers sent us on a downward spiral into a place of darkness and depression. A place we don’t want to even leave because its too tiring to think about leaving. This is oppression rather then depression.
The onslaught is from the outside, but it messes up the inside.
But there is power in prayer and the prayers brought the darkness into the light.
